Microsoft Windows systems:
A standard Windows Installer package (launch.msi) is now the default installation method. It will interrogate the underlying system, install the appropriate 32-bit/64-bit Java, and define the maximum memory allocation for the Order Entry client.
On 32-bit systems, the memory allocation will be 512MB or higher, depending on the client (Technicare Album has a 2GB allocation).
On 64-bit systems, the memory allocation will be up to 4GB.
If you are already running one of our old installs (pre-October 2014), you will want to re-install our software to take better advantage of your system's performance.
Please delete the Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts (to avoid launching the old version in error), and re-install using the links at the top of the page.
Mac OS X systems:
Due to differences between versions of OS X, there are a different methods available.
10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Maverick) and 10.10 (Yosemite) - These should install using the new links without issue. This uses an encapsulated Java 8 build (isolated from the system) due to graphics performance issues with Maverick.
10.7 (Lion) - Does not support Java 8, must use the old installers. 10.6 (Snow Leopard) - Unsupported by Apple since early 2014. Apple-supplied Java 6 included, must use the old installers.
We strongly recommend that all users (Windows or OS X) stay up to date on your Operating System (and updates for it) to help ensure ongoing compatibility with our systems.
This software release has been the result of several years of intense development. If you have further questions, please give us a call and we will assist you with the upgrade process.
